Colorlab proudly congratulates Dr. Byeongjin Kim (김병진) on completing his Ph.D. His dissertation, “Context-Aware Lighting Design for Home Appliances,” presents a design framework that explains how lighting inside products shapes user perception and interaction.

His research integrates human visual responses, contextual factors, and design intent to propose lighting behaviors that adapt meaningfully to use situations. Through multiple appliance case studies, he demonstrated how context-aware lighting can enhance product experience and support more expressive, user-centered design.
