Panel at IASDR2025

Professor Suk participated in a panel session titled “Next Labs: What Could an Ideal Design Research Lab Be?” together with Professor Tek-Jin Nam (남택진 교수님) and Professor Chang Hee Lee (이창희 교수님).

The panel brought together six design researchers representing major universities and research institutions worldwide to discuss what future design research labs should look like. The speakers shared their experiences and perspectives on creativity, interdisciplinary collaboration, experimental research environments, and the evolving roles of design labs.

Participants included researchers from KAIST, the National University of Singapore (NUS), Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), and Eindhoven University of Technology, representing leading design research communities in Asia and Europe.

The session offered an integrated view beyond traditional lab-centered research, exploring how design studios, research-driven laboratories, and emerging technologies can converge to build a coherent research culture. The discussion also highlighted directions for shaping the next generation of design research environments.
